Here are some books and CDs that Jan recommends.
I love to read and, therefore, finish 50 to 100 books per year. While
in the car, I also listen to good training material on my iPod. As a result,
in creating a selection of inspirational publications to share with you,
I chose the titles below for their tremendous impact on my life or because
I think they are particularly easy to understand introductions to certain
financial areas.

The Wealthy Spirit
Written on 365 pages, the book presents one mini-story for you to read
each day of the year. Practical, funny, and extremely motivating,
the stories provide dozens of specific ideas for improving your handling
of money. I so enjoyed this book that I bought 100 copies to give
as gifts |

Divine Wisdom at Work
This delightful read covers a dozen key success principles. One
that greatly impacted me was the lesson of how important it is to
clear the clutter from your life to make way for all the good you
want to receive. |

Maximum Achievement
Of all the many Brian Tracy books I own, this is my favorite. The
comprehensive book contains all the key factors needed to live a
highly successful life. Don’t let the easy read fool you—it’s
packed with fabulous advice. |
|
The Millionaire Next Door
I also bought 100 copies of this book to give as gifts to clients
and to my seminar attendees. If you want to become a millionaire,
doesn’t it make sense to imitate what they do? In documenting
exactly what millionaires do and don't do with their money, this
book is the best that I’ve read on the topic. |
|
Overcoming Underearning
This is a fabulous book for everyone who thinks they should be earning
more money, including those who are earning $100,000 but think it
should be $200,000. Most people who are earning less than their potential
are held back by what's in their head, not by not knowing what they "should" do.
This book is really powerful for showing you how to blow through
the emotional blocks. Order you copy at http://www.barbarastanny.com |

Total Money Makeover
Have you ever listened to Dave Ramsey on radio? If so, you know
that he’s a "take no prisoners" type of guy—just
the tone you’ll need if you have a heavy amount of debt. If
this is your situation, then purchase this book first. In fact, I
challenge you to read this book—it’s provides all the
incentive you need! |
|
Low Stress Investing
This is my recommendation if you are just starting to invest your
money. Many books offering investment advice are highly technical
and, consequently, almost impossible to understand. If you’re
seeking the basics, begin here. |
|
50 Simple Steps
Read this powerful "how to" book with practical suggestions
for living more frugally if you want to have more money available
to invest. You will appreciate that it’s both well-written
and loaded with practical advice. |

The Richest Man in Babylon
Upon reading this short easy-to-read book at the age of 24 (over
30 years ago), I was convinced that I would be wealthy one day. Though
written as a parable in somewhat dated language, it made a lasting
impression. From the moment I read it, I’ve been convinced
that getting rich was easy. |
|
Money…. It’s Not Just for Rich People
This inspiring book was written by someone who has been there, done
that. "If she/he can do it, then I can too" is the feeling
the author had as she read many financial management books. In fact,
she became so excited about learning how to handle her own money
well that she began writing books to teach others how easy getting
rich can be. |
|
The Success Principles
Exceedingly well-organized, this book contains a complete, step-by-step
guide for success in every area of your life. If I could recommend
only two books for achieving a successful life, I would choose The
Success Principles and Maximum Achievement (above). |
|
Ask and It Is Given
Loaded with practical, easy exercises, this book causes you to think
differently—not only about your money, but also about every
area of your life. If you think about something, you will make
it grow. As a result, training your mind to focus on what you want
is imperative. Similarly, you must stop thinking about what you don't
want. |
|
Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting
This book effectively explains how your thinking drives everything
that appears in your life. The author provides numerous examples
of personal life experiences that most definitely hit home with me.
In fact, this is the one resource that made me determined to stop
griping, whining, and criticizing despite how entitled I once felt
to possess those negative emotions. |

The Way to Wealth
I began listening to Brian Tracy more than 21 years ago, and he
remains my favorite of all the great trainers. He gives practical,
sensible advice that is both easy to understand and easy to put into
practice. Having achieved significant wealth although he started
his adult life as a high school dropout, he absolutely teaches from
experience. |
